About Me.
Dr. Groubert earned her BA in Psychology from The University of Rochester. in 1981. She received her MA (1985) and PhD (1987) in Clinical Psychology from the University of Southern California, where she was a National Institute of Mental Health Scholar. From 1982 - 1983, she was a research assistant on a neuropsychology study at Stanford University and the Palo Alto VAMC. She was a statistician / data-analyst / research assistant with the Institute for Prevention Research at USC from 1983 – 1987 where she was a coauthor on numerous research papers. She did a half time internship in pediatric behavioral medicine from 1985 – 1986 before doing her full time APA-approved internship in Health Psychology at the Long Beach VAMC from 1986 – 1987. She was a Project Director for Western Psychological Services, Test Publishers and Distributors, from 1987 – 1990. From 1991 – 2002, she was a staff psychologist on the spinal cord injury unit at the Audie L Murphy Veterans Administration Medical Center, where she also served on the Training Committee and the Speakers Bureau. Dr. Groubert started her private practice in 2002. She was one of the first psychologist to practice online. She was a faculty member at the Telemental Health Institute, where she created continuing education curricula and wrote a weekly blog.

Dr. Groubert served as President and Treasurer of the Bexar County Psychological Association. She also served on the board of the Texas Psychological Association. Once she moved to Eagle, Colorado, in 2012, she served on the board of SpeakUp ReachOut, the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Eagle County and the board of the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Colorado.

Dr. Groubert has given numerous public and professional presentations. In 2015 she gave a TED talk called “Why Can’t We Be Friends,” with over 160,000 views. She published her popular book, “8-Week Couples Therapy Workbook” in 2022. She has conducted professional workshops for Psychotherapy Academy and PESI on marriage counseling. Dr. Groubert has appear on radio and TV shows and has been interviewed for or has written numerous newspaper and magazine articles, including the San Antonio Express News, The Denver Post, The Vail Daily, Cosmopolitan, and Women’s Health Magazine.
Dr. Groubert practices out of her home at the base of the Rocky Mountains in beautiful Arvada Colorado. She is licensed in Colorado and holds a PSYPACT certification, which permits her to practice telehealth in almost all states in the US.
Dr. Groubert enjoys skiing, bicycling, photography, travel, reading, and writing. She has a wonderful Australian shepherd and two adorable cats. Dr. Groubert is married with three adult children.
